Tiny Forest Stuttgart
To mark its 100th anniversary, STIHL decided to create something lasting: a Tiny Forest in the heart of Stuttgart’s urban area. Developed with the state capital and local partners, this pilot project provides a model for other Tiny Forests.

The first Tiny Forest initiated by STIHL is being created in Stuttgart in the north of the city, directly in front of the Employment Agency and close to the central station. It covers about 700 square meters, of which 530 square meters will be planted. The City of Stuttgart deliberately chose a location where the ecological contrast would be greatest. It was a completely sealed, largely unused paved area.
Planning and preparation took more than a year, with construction beginning in July 2026. The project is being developed by STIHL in collaboration with the City of Stuttgart’s Parks, Cemeteries and Forestry Department and The Tiny Group, with support from the Stuttgart Climate Innovation Fund.

On step after the other
In July 2026, the concrete slabs and the layer of crushed stone beneath them were removed. Earthworks and soil preparation followed. The new, high-quality soil structure allows plants to take root and grow effectively. Plans include three planting areas separated by pathways and a central seating area where people can spend time.

The Tiny Forest is being planted in October 2026. It will receive care and monitoring for about four years to help it develop into a stable, largely self-sustaining ecosystem. The project includes opportunities for participation and environmental education to build its connection with the neighborhood. Students from the nearby Rosenstein School are actively involved in planting, maintenance, and subsequent monitoring.
